Me and my family visited Cyprus this year, I’ve never experienced anything like this restaurant in my life. It was literally like the place was ran by gangsters. The food was awful, they literally served a frozen supermarket pizza. The staff purposely never ask you about the food, because they know it’s awful. When we very politely let them know, not asking for a refund, they reacted in an insane manner. They were threatening violence, insulting us and wouldn’t let the females in the group speak (insanely misogynistic). I noticed that the Google reviews contain a lot of people saying the same. Yet there are SO MANY 5 star reviews, are they all fake or is there some tactic they employ to get these reviews?
Just some advice do not go near this place! It’s beyond awful.

It’s probably their friends and family who add the 5star reviews. Next time don’t eat the food. Send it back. Call the police if they cause you any issues. Like in front of them on the phone. These touristy areas are full of these types of restaurants everywhere in the world.
Unfortunately every place has its flaws. Please ask if you feel you have to. Tourist areas are well known for such traps, not only in Cy but everywhere.
Ask the locals for places to go, to dine etc. Cyprus is multicultural so language wont be a barrier.
P.S dont hesitate to call the police when needed! Hope you have a pleasant stay
Some people don’t know what good food tastes like tbh.
From the picture in the reviews the foods looks decent but it doesn’t mean taste is all there or even if the meat is ok.
Their replies on some reviews are a joke. They are trying to excuse any behavior.
Was your review 4 months ago? Because another review says they acted rude, like gangsters etc. They didn’t reply on that one and I would love to see their answer.
Definitely a problem with Google Reviews here. I often use the ‘best restaraunt in X reddit’ google search to see what actual redditors are saying when travelling somewhere. Its a shame this happens in tourist areas around the world. The owners know they have transient customers and as such they don’t put effort in to give people an experience they’ll come back for.
A LOT of the “restaurants” / “cafes” / “snack-bars” / “bars” in Cyprus operate without any licenses or appropriate registrations because they are being used as cash vehicles to launder proceeds of crime. That would match the description of your experience.
Sorry this happened to you, especially when holidaying with your family. This is not the standard we expect from restaurants on our island. Reviews are often manipulated by these types of places, it’s made up stuff by family/friends or maybe submissions from 3rd party paid services. Trust in Reddit for recommendations, we are here for you.
Currently on vacation close to larnaca and was wondering the same a few days ago. I notoced that restaurants in Pafos, Larnaca give starters and goodbye dishes for free and they are very tasty. Also quality of food is great, if You like meat and halloumi you are in heaven. As far as fast food related – i checked pizza hut and papa jones – great quality as well.
So maybe Cyprus has great food overall and many good restaurants. This is my view after 2 weeks eating here
I’ve been to this place a couple of times and really liked the food. I’ve never tried their pizza, though. They’re definitely not a pizza place, so it’s possible that it’s not their strongest dish. However, the local food is really good, so I believe the reviews are legit.
Go to these places if you want the best service and good food:
Limanaki (Old harbour, amazing vibe)
Stamna Taverna (been in business since the 80’s, cypriot food, best kleftiko)
Moo Moo (great for lunches, has the friendliest staff)
Megu (nice sushi place, choose chefs selection nigiri for really nicely presented Sushi!)
