I would love to see how this data was gathered. I don’t think this is true for Hungary. Schools nationwide and many office jobs start at 8:00.

    2. I guess it would depend on the average working hours. Here in Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia) it’s 07-15 not 9-17.. Although i understand thats in Belgrade private sector 9-5 is common.

So people mostly wake up at 5:30-6..

Funnily enough it was changed in the 90s, and some people to this day still lament the old 6-14 working hours, and how much daylight and time they had when they came home.

Edit: Personally i quite love the 7-3, it’s a perfect balance. Also, 16-17 are culturally understood as ‘nap-time’ and it’s quite a taboo to call, visit or invite someone at that time.

    3. Now correct for local solar time.

Spain in particular is famously in the wrong time zone.

Apparently something heavily skews these numbers upwards, which makes them quite meaningless without any other information.

    5. Romania is wrong. Everything, from schools to jobs, start at 8AM. There is no way that’s the typical wake up time.

What? I usually get up at around 7 am and thought this to be quite late.

I am a Brazilian is this right? Since I was a kid I woke up at around six to get ready to go to school, take a shower (my mom would kill if I didn’t take one before even in winter). Now I woke up around 6:30-7am.

    8. It seems unrealistically late. Most people won’t be at work at 9:00 AM if they wake up at 7:51 or even later

lol sure. in Switzerland most are already at work by 07:13 am. Hell, most kids have school starting at 07:30 from 7th grade onwards.

    10. 7:25 sounds terribly late for Germany. Most people already work at 8 am and most schools start around that time, too. By rule of thumb I’d say that it’s about 1 hour off.

Can anybody confirm any of these datas? It looks surprisingly late. Don’t they begin to work at 8 in Europe?

      >RU wake up time

      >you need to wake up at least at 6:30 to get to the job, or even at 6:00 or 5:30
      >8:06 AM
      sure bro

In Spain, by 8:05 am the roads are already crowded with people going to work. People trend to wake up 6:30-7:00 to get to work. Some places start at 8:00 and some at 9:00; and unless you live next to work, people need to wake up early to drive or take public transport.

None of the people I know wakes up at 8:00 unless it’s weekend and you can wake up 9:00 or 10:00

Kids start school normally at 9:00, Teens start Highschool at 8:20-8:30 (But this depends entirely of each school).

That said; if I had the possibility I would go to sleep 2:30 am and wake up 10:30 am. I enjoy staying late and i don’t mind waking up a bit later.

    14. I’m in Spain and I work in the subway, I wake up at 04:00 am, and myriads of workers enter at 06:00 am.

      Not sure about this map.

At 08:00 there’s less traffic, but knowing that people spend some time from the bed to the station, well, from 09:00 to 10:00 the venue’s capacity would be reduced drastically…

    15. Soy Español y jamás he conocido a nadie que se despierte tan tarde, ni los jubilados, tenemos que trabajar o estudiar y esa sería una hora normal de entrada al trabajo/escuela.
