    1. I don’t like the rest of the Conservative party at all either

We might have that in common

He is a privately educated (7% of population), ex Goldman Sachs (highest finance job you can get) and is likely on the list for top couple thousand richest people in the nation. I am struggling to see what anyone has in common with him outside of Canary Wharf directors.

And I say that as a privatelt educated finance guy. Like if I dont relate to him, who the fuck is?

    3. This is, to be honest, true of **most** politicians that lead political parties.

It’s true of Farage, it’s true of Starmer, and it’s true of Ed Davey.

That’s both now, **and** when they were teenagers.

I can’t Sunak he’s a useless sack of s**t, but I’d rather not have someone running the county that has commonalities with half the public.

    5. He’s a very poor pm. Most people would also be useless at the job. We are all Richi Sunak.

    6. I think the main issue is that he was brought into power indirectly outside of a general election. To me that feels like a measure that should be scrapped outside of emergencies.

It was legal and a much easier way for him to assume power (the luck of his favored replacement being incompetent aside) but the general public have been left with an impression that this guy is just *there* and noone knows him beyond his covid publicity.

We don’t actually have much in common with most of those who rule us – but processes and symbols matter, and someone who forgoes them will always feel distant.

I wouldn’t say having something in common is a quality I’m looking for in politicians. Looking out for the public’s best interests is though

Well yeah he isn’t white. Which is about the only thing most of the public have in common with the ruling class.

Well yeah , most of us aren’t private school educated, aren’t billionaires , aren’t part of the crew that helped spark the 2008 banking crisis , aren’t married to one of the worlds richest women.

He has zero in common with the vast bulk of us.

The mistake politicians make is thinking anyone one cares. Then they start trying to pretend they are something they’re not and look foolish doing so.

    11. Wound-Shagger on

There’s no difference between him and Starmer, they’re both nonentities

    12. I’d wager that close to 100% of people enjoy breathing air. Maybe Sunak does not like breathing air. Much to consider.

    13. He’s a Star Wars fan and pretty nerdy, so that’s two things I have in common with him.

      Edit

Oh and I didn’t have Sky TV either so that’s 3.

    14. Steady on, now. I go to Yorkshire a couple of times a year. He goes to Yorkshire a couple of times a year. Practically besties.
