Are you comparing a NUTS 1 region to NUTS 2 regions?
      This makes no sense.

Get this Bavarian propaganda outta here

I flat out refuse to believe that any part of Ireland is richer than Bavaria.

Sometimes I wish we would merge with Germany, to just become that arrogant as an Bavarian but than in Holland.

Never heard a Hollander say im not from the Netherlands I’m from Holland.

Please I know it’s very easy to jump to this conclusion because that’s how media simplifies the metrics for the general public as journalists themselves are not experts…

But don’t equate gdp per capita to ‘richness’ or ‘wealth’. It’s a measure of aggregate spending, nothing else.

GDP is intended as a mesure to compare the evolution over time of a a specific area, to assess how the economy at large is performing. But it is not a good measure to compare different regions, because the spending decisions they take can be vastly different.

Is that so? As a Bavarian, that does not mean shit. GDP has become a “funny” measure. Because the U.S. State of Alabama, where food insecurity is rife and “having enough teeth” is not a given for a large part of the adult population.

So… in a time, where GDP was tied to industrial output, well GDP was crude, but understandable. Today, where some shell company has a mailbox, it does not mean shit.

Why does South Tyrol have such high GDP/capita? I thought it was basically juat mountains?

It doesn’t mean anything. Do the “average netto salary over cost of living” plot and you find Bavaria at the bottom tier or around the halfway mark.

This would be a metric that we could relate to.

And they still can‘t take care of their people. I‘ve heard of pensioners having to move to Saxony-Anhalt because they couldn‘t afford to live in Bavaria any more.

Funny, I live in Bavaria and tbh… there is not much left at the end of the month…

Is Norway ranked higher because it is simply more expensive with very high oil revenue?

Why the Gross Domestic Product is considered a sign of richness?

What is the Gross Domestic Product? Explain, once and for all.

    12. It would have been cool to see the median. Otherwise the mean is polarized by a bunch of billionaires

So you count the whole federal state for Bavaria but for everyone else you go down to city level?
