    1. Hi, here is Rob in the DW newsroom. Here’s a brief overview of the story. 
       
      German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, in an interview with DW, underscored the trans-Atlantic partnership, close cooperation with Poland, continued support for Ukraine and European unity. 

       

      Trans-Atlantic relations, he said, are “no longer as straightforward as they used to be,” although the United States nevertheless remains a partner. What concerns Wadephul most, though, is European cohesion. 

       

      An example of that is the German-Polish defense agreement signed on Wednesday. If NATO territory is attacked: “We won’t hesitate for a second … German soldiers will immediately defend every centimeter,” he said.
