Shanghai-based Energy Singularity built Honghuang 70 (HH70) over the past 2 years, and it was finally turned on to successfully create and contain superheated plasma. This marks the first time a superconducting Tokamak was built entirely with REBCO(Rare-earth barium copper oxide) which can maintain superconduction with liquid nitrogen instead of much more expensive liquid helium.
Among Energy Singularity’s investors includes game developer MiHoYo and EV manufacturer Nio.
