The US ended its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, reopening the vital waterway under a US-Iran deal. Marine traffic remains slow, though Vice President JD Vance hinted Iran may eventually charge tolls despite the agreement’s ‘toll-free’ terms.

Yo, this feels like a big shift. The days of one side just stomping around are done. If the Global South starts setting terms like this, the unipolar era’s toast. These choke points are leverage, and they’re finally using it.

    4. Wonder if this disaster will result in the unltimate impeachment of Trump. I cant imagine non MAGA republicans being anything but pissed off about this.

Honestly, the whole blockade drama just proves we need to stop playing chicken with threats and sit everyone down to hash out real terms. Like, what’s the harm in finally drawing up a fair toll system if it avoids another standoff?

Lol, like sanctions ever worked before, now we’re acting like Iran won’t play the long game here? They’ll charge fees or leverage control eventually. History shows these quick fixes always unravel when the power dynamic shifts.

    7. I don’t need to read anything else other than ‘Iran sets rules’. The US are such losers in this.

More ships are passing, per http://www.warescalation.com (time series overview). However, still very limited. Numbers were higher at previous cease fire. As also of course the riskier operators already left then. While conditions seem better now the proof will be in the pudding.
