    1. > Shortly after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the election date, Scottish Secretary Alister Jack told the BBC he had made £2,100 after betting on June and July election dates. He claimed one of the bets was placed at odds of 25/1.

So for every £1 he wins £25? WHAT? Oh dear, oh dear.

      > Last week, Mr Jack told the BBC the comments were “a joke… I was pulling your leg”.
Today, the Scottish Secretary said in a statement he “did not place any bets on the date of the general election during May”.

Do any politicians in government have something called standards? Or ethics?

      > “I am very clear that I have never, on any occasion, broken any Gambling Commission rules”, said Mr Jack.

      “a joke… I was pulling your leg”.”

Interesting to see if gambling commission has a look at it.

“did not place any bets on the date of the general election during May”.

Was it a month that wasn’t May?

The bookies should have made a bet on how many MPs end up getting investigated or suspended.

      > Furthermore, I am not aware of any family or friends placing bets.

      Completely normal thing to say.

Why do these dickheads need to place fraudulent bets anyway? Don’t we pay pretty much all their living expenses plus a pretty decent salary?

    6. So he did not place the bet – but I wonder if someone he knew placed the bet…..
