Say “we want to be able to commit war crimes without being held accountable for committing war crimes” without saying it.

    2. Bishopjones2112 on

Of course Trump claims this. He is part of a government committing international war crimes.

    3. Somebody’s worried about being prosecuted. Maybe the ICC can do what Congress is to chickenshit to do.

This whole thing is about preventing 1) further threats to keep Bibi away from justice by European countries and 2) the eventual threat to Trump, Hegseth, and Rubio for the same.

Rubio is trying to burn down the police station. They all know they’re going to be held accountable and they think they can avoid it.

ICC definitely threatens sovereignty, any international intervention for any reason, good or bad, does.

The answer to that is that sovereignty is not absolute. That’s why I never believe in arguments that “we shouldn’t breach their sovereignty no matter how bad their government is.”

His whole cabinet is mad that they’re never gonna be able to travel again. A Trump pardon won’t save you from that.

    7. It doesn’t impinge US sovereignty.

If you do some war criming so bad that it gets you onto the world’s radar and the docket of the ICC… Then just stay inside the borders of America.

America doesn’t recognize the ICC and won’t extradite.

But if you’re double tapping fishermen in the middle of the ocean… you might not be able to vacation on the French Riviera anymore…

    8. It threatens administration officials continued freedom once theyre out of power maybe. Just try not breaking laws international or otherwise and youll be fine.

This isn’t newsworthy. The US doesn’t recognize the ICC and will continue not to, unless somehow an amendment can be passed which would allow the US to join the ICC treaty.

    10. Maybe the Copyright, Intellectual Property, TradeMarks they bully people about might also be up.. let’s copy the tech they extract funds out of EU citizens.. wanna blow some random country up? We are copying Apple Product Designs.. Amazon not paying taxes, we acquiring their DC’S and selling their AirCon for cheap.

As much as I hate Trump, _every_ US president since the ICC’s inception (with the slight exception of Clinton) has opposed to joining the ICC

Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden have all been opposed to signing the Rome Statute. It’s not an R vs D thing

Personally, unless the US serviceperson committed the offense on US soil or a US base/embassy, the ICC should be allowed to prosecute.

    12. They can just declare the ICC to be a terrorist org, and call it ***anti-wa*** to make it sound like being opposed to war crimes is secret and sinister like they did with anti-fa.

Translation: We have criminals we know should be prosecuted, so we’re trying to eliminate the body that could put them on trial.

The USA has existed for over 20 years with the ICC existing. There is no proof it threatens the USA, the US chose to refuse signing up for accountability and simply exists independent from allies and neighbours who want to make the world better.

    15. Trump = never accountable for anything. This US administration is intolerable.

    16. ItsNotNormalMaybe on

Who cares if ICC, without doing anything but exist, threatens US?

I’m thoroughly disappointed in the American people. You really should do better.

    17. Threatens a country’s sovereignty? Like, maybe capturing a country’s president … say … maybe like Venezuela?
