A controversial new ruling from the Federal Communications Commission leaves no one responsible for regulating light pollution and other ill effects from skyrocketing numbers of satellites

This is literally the plot of Die Another Day
The company got approved for 1 satellite. And has plans to eventually get 50,000 up there. The night sky belongs to everyone. And now it’s going to be ruined for capitalism.
This company wants to light up construction sites for 24/7 construction. Or light up disaster areas to speed up rescue missions.
I can see the benefits of a well lit up disastor zone. But I will never get behind ruined the natural order of the night sky for monetary gain.
This administration doesn’t care what astronomers and intellectuals think, this isn’t an FCC problem this is a Republican problem. Under any other administration the proper regulatory body (the FCC) would have made an informed decision instead of saying not my problem.

If you’re trying to enact change, Reddit already got the message.
This will probably develop into a space magnifying glass that can incinerate city blocks like kids used to do to ants on the sidewalk.
KARMA FARMERS just love posting this article over and over dont they LMFAO

Yeah fuck those mirror dudes. And this is allegedly just the first of many. I hope it wastes billions of their dollars and burns up in the atmosphere.
This American administration once again approves something that is essentially a giant middle finger to everyone in the world.
Is this mirror for anything scientifically significant at all? or is it just ‘lets make a laser beam’ nonsense?
More junk to put in orbit.
Putting ethical and responsible use of space aside, how does this not become an unplanned solar sail and have increased orbital decay?
I hope china or Russia shoots it down
