Only because this two faced politician was fighting against allowing surrogate mothers in germany.

All over the world the conservative platform seems to be at its core; *how can we make everyone as miserable in life as we are?*

Surrogacy is illegal in Germany and this was supported by this guy back when he was still minister of health (and now he’s the faction spokesman of the conservative party).

Guy has a really hard “Rules for thee but not for me” mindset.

    4. >Surrogacy is banned in Germany – a policy firmly backed by his Christian Democrat party, and several years ago by Spahn himself.

Oh wow. I wasn’t expecting those plot twists. I can see why he’s getting those calls.

I admit I misread the headline and was horrified at first. He still deserves to resign though.

    6. I’d be surprised if this scandal is what brings this guy finally down. Dude moved billions of euros to his circle which wasn’t enough. So, if he falls due to this I’m all for it!

    7. I don’t think many reasonable people have issues with the surrogacy itself.

What people are upset about is that he has been an outspoken advocate for banning surrogacy.

He did what not to long ago he tried to stop others from doing.

The hypocrisy is what upsets people, not what he does in his private life.

Germany and the German press have traditionally been rather respectful of politicians’ privacy (or alternatively been too bought and paid for to report on it), but everything has its limited and non traditional media has less respect for these sort of gentleman’s agreement.

It also helps that as a person he is so despicable, corrupt and generally dislikable for anyone to give him the benefit of doubt.

    8. Scandals in Europe seem almost quaint compared to the horrors in the US right now.

    9. I mean it’d be pretty ironic if after everything, this would be the thing that gets him fired.

Either way, I’m here for it.

Isn’t this the same politician that supported a law to make wearing FFP2-masks a must and sold the masks himself to make millions during the pandemic?

    11. This guy publicly stated he is against it, using mocking words even. Then he and his partner used it themselves. He is the personification of hypocrisy. That was btw not the first time he pulled some stupid shit. I don’t care why he will go someday, only that he does … No one needs assholes like that around.

    12. That mofo didn’t resign when he wasted tons of tax payer money, actually he should be in prison. But nothing of that happened.

This guy doesn’t resign for anything, you only have to look at his career.

Not really about child born with surrogate, but rather with doing something abroad which is illegal in Germany.

    15. you guys have no idea how much the majority of Germans want him to resign, since years by now.

we really hope this little affair will be enough, but honestly, I think if the previous scandals weren’t enough, this one will just end like the others, without any consequences at all.

Since we learned he’s friends with Thiel, i stopped wondering why that guy is still in office.

It would be the funniest thing if this shameless criminal would be brought down by something comparatively normal.
