Sounds more like sacked for *how* they raised the concerns rather than anything else.

On the other hand, Brewdog, so six of one and all that.

    2. >In documents seen by Tribune, BrewDog accused Myriam of ‘aggressive and abusive behaviour.’

      >‘This was not the case at all,’ maintains Myriam. ‘All I said was “I can’t fucking believe this. This is fucking unbelievable.” I didn’t swear at my manager.’

Lol she’s not helped her case here.

Foreign girl has meltdown on seeing the flag of the country she lives in, more at 10. It’s amazing how people can be so unwilling to encounter people with different views than them, and yet expect their own views to be protected.

    4. You can’t meltdown over people with different political beliefs meeting in your workplace, especially if it’s a pub!

Imagine saying I don’t agree with how Islam views me as a lesbian woman and demand any group wearing traditional dress be removed.

The volunteer EDL defence league (VEDLDL?) are out in full force on this post.

    6. Fair play to Brewdog for supporting the defence of England despite being a Scottish brewer; that’s patriotism right there.

Jesus Christ these comments are insane. Who cares that she swore? Like people are human, swearing when you’re upset because your place of work is allowing a violent hate group that targets people like you to be around you with no regard for your wellbeing or safety warrants swearing. It’s forgivable and not really something someone deserves to be fired over. Have some empathy goddamn.

I feel like a lot of people need to be educated on who the EDL are and what they stand for. Like did youse even read the start of the article?

      > “The day itself would quickly descend into chaos, with the Met commenting that groups of men wielding flags had been ‘violently forcing their way through’ police cordons an hour before the event was due to take place. Glass bottles were thrown, numerous injuries ensued, and a police horse was struck. By the close of play, the clashes had seen ten people arrested.”

These people are violent! If I was any other race than white I’d be fucking terrified of being around them.

    8. “To sack a worker of colour for objecting to members of a fascist organisation meeting in their workplace is a new low for this company”

Fair comment. Can’t argue with that.

Definitely sounds like she over reacted. She’s telling her side so her kicking off was probably a bit worse than she is saying.

We have to deal with things we don’t like at work. I’ve worked in pubs where a lot of travellers have come in and other colleagues have been whisper whisper we shouldn’t serve them etc etc. Its not right. Don’t think you should be able to refuse service because you don’t like a group or disagree with their views.

Then again I also think getting sacked for having a moan in that situation is a bit too far. Sometimes we all fuck up at work. Would have understood the emotional outburst and let it slide personally. Handle it with a one on one chat and an informal warning later on.
