The kid was restrained in a shopping trolley, you have to wonder if the dog was not

Poor girl and poor dog, both suffering for the actions (or lack) of the dog’s owner

Dog owners should be criminally responsible for the acts of their dogs

Why did Bunnings ever relax on their rules? It used to be either the dog had to be muzzled or secured in a trolley.

Dogs in enclosed public spaces like this need to be muzzled or if not, ban them. Some people are irresponsible pet owners who think their dog is special and can never do wrong.

Please please please let this be the end of dogs in Bunnings!

Owner should be held criminally responsible if they were (by a reasonable definition) aware the dog was dangerous.

(From a different article) ”They said the girl was sitting in a shopping trolley while her parents were nearby when another customer’s dog suddenly “lunged and latched onto” her leg.”
So the kid wasn’t even antagonising the dog, or surprised it or anything else they could argue to defend the animal. just a fully unprovoked attack…I bet it was a Labrador

I would be suing bunnings for creating a dangerous environment by allowing dogs into the premises

Dogs have started to be treated like children on a social level writ large, and we need to remember they are animals

“at least once a day we’d have to clean up dog shit left in the middle of the walk way, and every second aisle would get a fresh spray of dog piss multiple times a day. ”
Really ?? Honestly never ever heard of that.

Good, dogs that attack people should never be given another chance, I hope the young girl is ok.

We take our Shizu to Bunnings every few weeks. I always walk him BEFORE we even go in the store, even if it’s wet. So he gets his toilets out. We don’t let him to near anyone cos it’s just the normal thing to do
Obviously if people ask to pat him they can
If this is the end of Bunnings for dogs. It sucks, as he loves it. But so be it.
Will still take him there on weekends to get a sausage and give some coin to the organisation doing the BBQ

Hopefully this brings an end to people bringing their dogs to Bunnings and extends to hospitality and other places where dogs don’t need to be.

Whenever it’s dog vs young kid theres always a dread that it might have been the kid’s face being bit.
A girl in my primary school had her face badly bit by a dog when she was a toddler and had multiple plastic surgeries just in the 2 years I knew her, it was fucked.
Obviously no dog bite is okay, or without trauma for a young kid but the fact that it was her lower leg and not her face was kind of a relief.
