Yes, that’s one part. But if you don’t eradicate human made toxins, invasive species & maybe other variables within that space, you won’t suddenly have a healthy area.
guardian trying to sell the un global compact that wants us all tightly packed into easily surveilled towns and cities. Their WEF backers want the common man out of the countryside and this ‘re-wilding’ initiative is just them trying to sell it to us. The guardian is despicable
I thoroughly recommend the documentary Our Sea Forest by Big Wave productions, which tells the story of Eric and his freediving here in Sussex and the fight for the trawler ban. If you’re interested in marine environmentalism it’s a powerful & moving watch.

I mean it wont come back if we keep building more and more on it. Which given that we are growing by 685k per year and have a housing shortage… .. .
Don’t forget to stop by r/rewildingUK if you’re into this kind of thing
Lots of free space? Sounds like a housing needing made.
Very true, however the land and water in the UK is heavily polluted and nature will need hep to recover in such environments at first. It is also going to require people to want nature there in the first place, in all its wild glory too. A lot of people love nature, but only if it is pristine and neatly manicured (see the average garden for example). Nature will recover once people realise we are dead without it.
