      I have literally never seen this sign, but if people aren’t aware this is the rule just paint a zebra crossing.

      AI slip. Never seen this sign before, in fact most motorists have never seen any road signs while driving

      It’s not just slip lanes if turning off a road and someone is crossing the person crossing has right of way

      Nah. The pedestrian crossing at North Quay ferry and cycle path is worse.

      Nearly every cyclist just blows through it without a care, even with people on the crossing.

      I do it everytime. And get tooted buy fuckwits for doing it. Today tooted by a man behind me in a company signed ute as I gave way to man in a wheelchair on the corner of Longland and Ann Sts in Newstead/Valley.

      Crossing the slip lane from Samford Rd to Upper Kedron Road I’ve had maybe two vehicles stop for me in the nine years I’ve been crossing it multiple times a week.

      It’s at the bottom of a 70km hill, and no way I’m stepping out in front of the many trucks and tradies taking the turn.

      This sign irritates me though. I mean, the black and white colour scheme indicates that it is an enforceable sign. The message it communicates is an enforceable rule that can be found in the road rules. So why isn’t it just a give way sign?

      It’s almost like the council wants drivers to think it isn’t a real give way sign, so they’ll ignore it

      Sorry cops are too busy to enforce this, they’re busy fining 15 year olds for riding bicycles.

      Nope, it’s not the most ignored sign by a long shot. I gave a female work colleague of mine a clear sign that her romantic overtures (stripping to her underwear before lunch in the food court, kissing me while I was trying to drive to Indooroopilly Shoppingtown, feeling my thigh throughout a professional zoom meeting etc) were not welcome. I moved to Darwin. Guess who turned up yesterday morning?

      Yep, because they removed the zebra crossing lines from most of the slip lanes that made it clear to both drivers and pedestrians what the status quo was. Then in their infinite wisdom replaced those clear and obvious zebra crossing lines with these tiny rule signs at maybe half the slip lanes.

      Source a kid who watched this happen slowly happen in the 00s and immediately realised this was going to have consequences. Sounds like the chickens have come home to roost on this one.

      I don’t assume the driver indicating entry to the slip lane knows the rule, never in my 30+ plus years of life have I, safer to always wait for them to yield before I step out. Safer that way.
