    1. Excerpts from article by Jason Koebler:

*[…] Zuckerberg posts these types of essays every so often for purposes that serve his own company, and this one, called “The Future Is For Everyone,” is designed to defend against general backlash to AI but also to Meta’s own practices.*

*Zuckerberg lays out the potential use case for Meta glasses (whose huge marketing campaign cannot get people to stop calling them “pervert glasses”), AI agents, open weights AI development, and why data centers are not bad for communities, actually.*

*Like most Silicon Valley “utopian” essays, to believe that any of this is going to go how Zuckerberg suggests it will requires one to have been recently concussed or to willfully ignore how this technology is being used today and believe that thousands of years of human nature will suddenly shift.*

*For example, Zuckerberg writes, “Everyone will have an exceptionally capable personal agent that understands you, your goals, and everything you care about. Your agent will work 24/7 on your behalf to improve your relationships, health, career, finances, home management, hobbies, and more. It will free up time for the things you enjoy, and help you accomplish more than you could otherwise.*

*“It will have strong privacy and security options so you can trust it to handle all of your personal content knowing that no one else can access your information, similar to how encryption works on WhatsApp.*

*“You’ll be able to interact with your agent through any device, including your glasses to keep you present in the moment with the people you care about.”*

The future is for everyone, said the guy sailing his $300m yacht to his private island in Hawaii to check out the new fittings in his 5000 square foot doomsday bunker.

Can you please add a content warning before shoving that android face into my screen? Thank you.

      >Historically, hoping that an absolute power will benevolently provide for humanity if sufficiently enlightened has not led to safe or positive outcomes.

The irony is fully palped, people.

      Time to shut it down.

    5. The future is for everyone! Now get back underground, Morlocks! Do not dare gaze upon the misshapen heads and translucent skin of your genetic superiors!

    6. Meta has started running vague pro-AI ads on streaming services to try to mend their image. The desperation is palpable.

    7. Reminder: The smartest people in the world regard these techno-bro bottom-feeders as despicable little con-men. So, I don’t think Fuckerberg is going to like what happens to him and his billions if Americans actually get a lot smarter…

These guys keep on pitching some future utopia where nobody has to do anything, but they don’t ever seem to want to lay out a path for everyone to get a piece of the pie, AND they keep insisting that they need all of the pie.

Like, at least lay out a feasible path that you pretend you’re going to stick to, like a UBI or something.

How the hell does he slide further and further into the uncanny valley as he ages? Holy shit.

It isn’t just his appearance but also his mannerisms. This is straight up “well if I just say the right words everybody will do what I want!”

It’s a fucking chatbot connected to Google. It’s not super intelligence.

    11. It’s always funny how billionaires think they’re the ones who get to decide what the future is.

Tech bros convince ancient dinosaur politicians that their tech can benefit humanity. Dinosaurs have no understanding of the subject and fork over billions. Tech bros smile.

He renamed his company for an *80-to-90-billion-dollar failure.*

I’ll pass on his latest brainwave bulletin.

    14. I believe that Zuck believes everything he says, at least up to a point. I genuinely think this isn’t all just PR to prop up his company. This isn’t a compliment. Zuck has proven several times to be desperate to create a technological future that simply can’t exist yet. His money has insulated him from reality to the point where either nobody tells him no, or he ignores them because he’s rich enough to know better.

    15. Meanwhile his superyacht ignored a stranded vessel in its vicinity — an unequivocal dick move.

    16. Just like we were all gonna be hanging out in the metaverse by now, right? He’s had Marc Andreessen in his ear for too long. How convenient to convince yourself that the most moral vision of the future is the one in which you are wealthiest.

    17. Someone at work today got mad at me for pointing out they images they used on a one sheet needed some tweaking

I work for a First Nation organization, and having teepee poles on just one side with a transparent canvas (albeit small & in the background) and the pretty horrid image of a sweetgrass braid, that other than being green looked more like a separating drive belt, it’s just not a great look.

They got upset with me critiquing it and I asked why? You prompting an AI is not any different than commissioning an artist to do the work, but you are reacting like you created the “art”

It is concerning to me that people believe they are artists or programmers because they have learned how to be a prompt jockey.

The world would be much better if all these tech billionaires got dropped in a volcano

“The future is for everyone” seems to go against the mass deployment of AI surveillance and massive increases in police spending etc, and increasingly labelling everyone as terrorists. I feel like they’re preparing for a future that certainly isn’t for everyone.

    20. Dear billionaires. I don’t want super intelligence or a mars colony or cheap Chinese crap delivered within the hour by drone. I want an end to climate change and growing wealth inequality.

    21. PoorClassWarRoom on

They’re trying to destroy a generation’s ability to think critically. Worse than that, they are trying to replace their reasoning with a machine they control.

    22. This guy is more deranged and narcissistic than Trump. Even in college, it was apparent that he had zero moral compass or regard for society/human life.

    23. Remember how he called us all “dumb fucks”?

Don’t think that he’s changed one bit.
