not to be a downer, but the headlines a bit misleading. 1000 Little Penguins have had their first does. They need a second a few weeks apart. Not out of the woods yet.
Haven’t heard any news about the st Kilda penguin colony?
The science and the modelling says that it’s too late, by the time they have their second dose and then actually develop the immunity (which takes a few weeks after the second dose) bird flu will already be there and will have decimated the colony.
I hope to god the science is wrong, or we get some sort of fluke or miracle or something and the penguins are okay.
It’s heartbreaking.
