>“I think there are things about the world that make feel like not shocked if the Antichrist was walking among us,” Vance added.
>In another portion of the interview, Vance claimed he’s focused on “doing as much of God’s work as possible,” shrugging that “if that leads to the end times, OK.”
>The Christian end times refer to the religion’s interpretations of the final days of humanity. That’s detailed in the Bible as a period involving widespread turmoil and deception (such as wars, earthquakes, and a false prophet), a seven-year stretch of unprecedented hardship known as the Great Tribulation that will end in Armageddon, the emergence of the Antichrist and a cadre of their followers who reject Christ’s teachings, and a final judgment by God.
>Vance did not speculate as to who he believed the Antichrist could be.

**Matthew 24:5, 24:**
Jesus warns His disciples that “many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many”, and false Christs and false prophets will arise to mislead people.
**Deceivers:** Scripture points out that these false figures twist truth and use deceptive signs to pull people away from authentic faith.
**Identifying False Teachers:**
Lack of Fruit: According to community discussions on platforms like TrueChristian, users agree that false believers are ultimately known by their lack of spiritual fruit and selfish actions.
Self-Proclamation: Anyone claiming ultimate divine authority or equality with God outside of Jesus Christ is labeled a deceiver in biblical context.

This modern version of the rapture and end times is all from some dude named John Nelson Darby. It’s not even from the bible. American Christianity is so far warped from what Jesus taught it’s a completely separate thing at this point. It’s crazy how our country was completely taken over by hateful morons.
Tzokal on
This is honestly most evangelicals – they’re obsessed with the end times and bring about the rapture and then hell on earth for all that remain. They care nothing beyond their own delusions of salvation despite the fact that according to their own eschatology, many evangelicals themselves will suffer eternal damnation.

I’ve said this forever. Not that it matters, but “the end times” are not predicted in the Bible. The Book of Revelation is not a prediction about “the end times,” it’s a piece of apocalyptic literature about the time it was written, for the people of that time. Same thing is true for things like Daniel; they’re written for the people of their time, and written about the time they’re written in, or more accurately, what had been going on around then.

I feel like this is something a lot of people don’t get, if they didn’t grow up Evangelical.
The “logic” is:
The world ends by Jesus coming back and taking all the Christians to heaven. This is a certainty.
Therefore, things like global warming, nuclear war, famine, etc. do not matter, because they know the world doesn’t end because of those things. It ends because Jesus grants them paradise.
For a significant number of them, global warming, nuclear war, etc. is a *good thing,* since the world can only end by Jesus coming back, nukes flying through the air would mean Jesus better hurry the fuck up.
They’re not just indifferent to the destruction of the world, they *want it to happen,* because the end result of it is paradise.
These are the people making the decisions in US politics.
Small edit just in case: While this is a common belief in American Evangelicalism, it is rare outside North America.
