Canadians are happier than they’ve been in years, poll finds

Nothing unites people like a common enemy.

Also anecdotally, the vibes have been ‘nature is healing’ for the past year or so. Immigration controls kicked in and halted a massively divisive population boom, housing costs finally peaked or even cooled in some of the hottest markets, the federal government now has an unusually popular and competent leader, the Jays made it to a World Series nail biter and we had our best-ever World Cup showing while hosting.

We still have a lot of problems, but I think many Canadians are now more *optimistic* than they’ve been in a long time.
