He just wanted to show the real meaning of the word Freedom.

This young American is about to learn a very, very expensive lesson – and at that speed, potentially spend more time in Switzerland than he anticipated…. behind bars!

So will he actually face prison? Will he be held until the sentencing or released back to America and then probably just never return so no prison time?

This guy, if he’s not rich, is fucked royally up. He can get a jail from 1 up to 4 years, this is quite mandatory if your speed is over 80km/h above the speed limit, then he needs to pay legal fees, that usually exceeds 5000 chf, then, he pays for the rental car until the police releases the car, which can take weeks and last he needs to pay the fine based on the wealth, it can range from 30 to 3000 chf and the courts decides the daily rates, in this case, can be for more than 180 days, so, he might get 180×3000 chf fine. Let’s see if we hear about this case, the conclusion of it in the weeks or months.

Two things I’m curious about.
* What do we usually do with Raserdelikte commited by foreigners? We just fine them and send them back (with the interdiction to drive in Switzerland for a set amount of time) or we actually put them in jail (*and* fine them)?
* I always thought speed cameras were more or less automated and only passively monitored, as in: they take a photo, the system notifies an office that prints out the letter and the fine and it is saved in a database. But in this case, it seems that the police on duty that night was alerted. Maybe in case of very high speed the speed camera actively notifies in real time the police control room? Or maybe other people called it in?

lol all the hypocrites here jailing the person for a speeding lol 😂🤦🏻♀️
Feel sorry for you guys chewing on this “news”. Did 300km/h on A12 once, jail me. Specifically dressed up cute in case I’ll have a mugshot taken.
Good luck with your issues, and CH where someone is getting punished for speeding but domestic violence, sexual harassment against women are just blown by the wind. 💨

Can Switzerland deport him to El Salvador?
He’ll be sent to the chocolate mines for that.
