We’re all aware that “they are listening”, but this seems on another level and insidious. Just throwing it out there for general awareness. It’s quite long at 2 hours. I’d expect one of those shorter 15 min animation explainers would help capture a wider audience’s attention if it’s broken down without all the ubernerd stuff. Also not sure if this is also happening in the EU, but I’m not sure why they would refrain from doing so even with GDPR, knowing the fine is miserly compared to what they earn.

Use Apple TV for your streaming / smart services. Yeah I know Apple… Buuut they aren’t in the business of selling your data.
Never connect any smart devices like TVs to your wifi/internet.
Haven’t watched this one, but Linus at LTT has a few short ones, one of them very recent, and not specific to LG. In few words, his take is that the only effective way to avoid it is to not connect the tv to your wifi when you buy it and feed it through HDMI or similar.

Tell me a conspiracy.. Probably the smartphones, smart TVs, smartwatches, vacuum cleaners, CCTV, etc etc etc probably are not using the data to track you.. Probably not…
Also this is LG, but don’t assume that every other brand don’t do this.
Every fucking aspects of our lives are spied upon, our phones, our social medias, our credit cards, our cars, the perverts meta glasses, pokemon go….
It’s like a Stasi’s wet dream at the hands of a few techno-facists.
To poison the data, keep your smart TV in a room with a dumb TV, and have the dumb TV turned on and blaring random radio programmes back at the smart TV. Change the channel or mute it at random times.
That’s why I kinda recommend people not to enable internet connection to the TV. Just use a media device like Apple TV, PlayStation, Xbox, heck even Postbox, but who knows… They are probably listening too… And to recommend Pi Hole is not the easiest thing for people to do (even though it’s not that difficult).
