The movie released on September 8, 2006 as an indie project and was Trier’s first movie. Which surprised me when I found out because I thought it was a pretty decent job done as a beginning professional director.
I’ve seen the movie in December 2023 and found the two main characters relatable due to being around their age. And I believe that made a lasting impact on me and made me thankful of watching it.
Though it’s a bit confusing on a first watch.
But I’m still glad I watched it as a guy who only knows Norway for their Viking history and Erling Haaland.
Guess who’s gonna have a movie rewatch tonight? ME!

Have you folks watched the movie?
If so, what did you think?
My favourite of the Oslo Trilogy
Still my favorite Trier movie 😊
One of my all time favourite movies. It’s a magnificent movie – and time capsule.
I watched when it was screened the the movies here in Oslo, and had no idea what was coming. I was so blown away/happy/in awe I went out and got drunk afterwards. Finally a good norwegian film.
Never dared to watch it again afraid I might be dissapointed.
