    1. Had lousy experience with them in Belgium too, is a big part of the reason I won’t own a BMW anymore

    2. Bilia Emond managed to fuck up a regular oil change for me. They put in the wrong oil filter and my car was losing oil. Lucky for me I spotted this issue during the technical inspection, two weeks later.

I went back to Bilia and complained, ar first they wouldn’t take responsibility. They also informed me the car is not drivable because of risk for further damage. However, they wouldn’t supply a replacement vehicle.

In the end they fixed it without charges, but do you think I trust them to go back?

I’ve heard food things about S-Cars bettembourg. It’s a Bosch official center and they handle BMW cars well

things went so terribly, you had to create an AI slop image based on reddit posts?

Went there to have an offer for a BMW 550e two years ago. The car had a list price including options of around €110k. The sales person was supposed to mail me the offer, so I could forward it to the leasing company and in a hurry as the BIK rules for Hybrids would change on 01.01.2025 and needed to be locked in before the end of 2024.

Had to remind the guy every couple of days to send it to me. Took him 3 weeks, for a document we made together at his desk… Once he did, he never bothered to ask if it was ok or if I had made up my mind. He actually did contact me a few months later, a few days after I got my Audi delivered.

Fortunately I did not get to experience their after sales service.

    6. They installed the wrong spark plug model. The engine was only running on five cylinders. They installed M-Sport parts on an Alpina…

    7. In my experience all bmw garages in Luxembourg are straight-up liars and incompetent. As long as you’re buying or under warranty, they’re all over you; once that’s done, the scams begin…. almost filed a complaint against one garage.

    8. This is not as much a BMW problem as an individual dealership franchise management problem. And it’s not just BMW.

      1. It has always been the case that dealership mechanics get paid the least and have the least experience.
      2. Any specific job they have to do is assigned a standardized labor time.
      3. Some jobs have an absurdly short amount of time allocated to them. Others not so much.
      4. Mechanics are incentivized to finish fast, not do a good job. Instead of working more efficiently, they cut corners. Not their car, not their problem. 9 times out of 10, the client won’t notice anyway.
      5. Most mid-range dealerships (particularly in Luxembourg) are incompetent in dealing with end consumers. I suspect most of their business is corporate B2B. Abysmal customer service and extremely poor communication, sales people dgaf even if they’re making commision on a sale. Service consultants, much the same. They’re extremely evasive and can’t answer an email if their life depended on it – This might be different when working with luxury dealerships, but I’m skeptical.
      6. In most other countries, specialists exist. Independents with years of experience working on a specific brand. Demand in Lux is low, for a variety of reasons (people lease, they buy new and sell out of warranty, use company cars etc).

Anyone who knows enough about working on cars has trust issues with dealerships ( “we do ’em all” garages too). Justifiably so.

    9. I have had *so* many problems with them, it’s unreal.

      * Had the bumper repainted, but they reinstalled the sensors the wrong way, so the car was constantly screaming at me. That took two trips before they fixed it.

      * Needed a new mirror after another car had shaved ot off. The mirror-based camera still doesn’t work.

      * Third break light didn’t work. They couldn’t find the error, but left me without news for two weeks. Customer service bumped me, did not call back, etc. until I had a meltdown (first for me in 50 years). Apparently BMW Munich calls all the shots and they had to ask them for a diagnosis. For some reason, nobody thought to tell the owner of the car about this.
Quote of that day: “You know, it’s the same with Mercedes, Porsche and the others.”
My quote of that day: “The only thing left premium about BMW are the prices.”
At least I got a free replacement car out of it in the end, but it tore a good chunk out of my savings.

      * Other problem a few weeks later in the same part of the car, apparently unrelated though 🤔 I got a notification asking me to sign a quote via Fleetback exceeding 3.000€!! Customer service again not being, well, existent, I decided to actually drop in. One person was trying to handle 4 customers, while their colleagues were having a good time about 2 metres away. Cleared things up, but here’s the quote of that day:
“Don’t look at the task list on Fleetback, you should not be able to see it anyway.”
The whole adventure cost me another few days of not having a car and another 1.000€.

In the last year, I have witnessed two other customers in Mersch going nuclear.

Due to this, and BMW having decided that they are basically big smartphones and need subscriptions, I have decided to not go back *ever* to that place. Ever. Luckily, there are other options in the vicinity.
