Mediaset (and not only) drags Corona to Court, asking for 160 million: “He acts without rules”

A nine-figure compensation is what Mediaset, Pier Silvio, Marina Berlusconi and several faces associated with the Cologno Monzese company, including Ilary Blasi, Silvia Toddanin, Gerry Scotti and Maria De Filippi, are asking Fabrizio Corona. The large group dragged the former king of the paparazzi to court asking for a total of 160 million euros for image and reputational damages deriving from an episode of Falsissimo published in January in which Corona shot zero on all the Mediaset faces and on Silvio Berlusconi’s two children.

Corona, Mediaset lawyers Andrea Di Porto, Giulia Bongiorno, Salvatore Pino and Aldo Baldaccini wrote in a brief, has carried out an activity that does not follow any rules, exploiting the regulatory gaps of the new media. He “deliberately places himself outside of any regulated context, exploiting the regulatory gaps connected to the new means of communication, to try to operate ‘legibus solutus’, free from any ethical and deontological rules”.

He would have passed off “as absolute truth seriously defamatory accusations and insinuations, built on nothing”. And again: “Outside here, on social media, on television and in clubs, he continues, with the same fury, the same verbal violence, the same arrogance, to spread the same invectives, accusations and insinuations.” At the center of the issue therefore is not only the episode of Falsissimo, but also other public declarations, for example those which occurred in the context of his theater tour.
