On July 6, 1992, Hasan Klapuh, his wife Ferida and daughter Sena tried to escape from the war-torn Foča to Montenegro. They turned to members of the Republika Srpska Army, including their neighbor, for help, and they paid them to bring them safely across the border. Even at the border crossing, Hasan explained to the policeman that the people transporting them were their “friends” and that because of the shooting in Foca, they were traveling with them for safety.

After crossing the border, the column of three vehicles stopped at the “Obrad Cicmil” bridge above the Piva canyon near Plužine. According to the final judgment of the Montenegrin court, the family was killed there by members of the “Dragan Nikolić” detachment of the VRS: Janko Janjic, Radomir Kovač, Zoran Simovic i Zoran Vuković. First Hasan was killed, then Ferida, and then Sena. Witness Vidoje Golubović stated that immediately before the murder, Sena begged Vuković not to kill her. The bodies were then thrown from the bridge into the Piva canyon, from a height of about one hundred meters.

The higher court in Podgorica sentenced the four immediate perpetrators in absentia to 20 years in prison each. Vidoje Golubović was sentenced to eight months for not reporting the crime and its perpetrators; he was the only one of the accused who attended the trial. That case became the first final verdict for a war crime committed on the territory of Montenegro during the wars of the nineties.
