Just co-produce the Leopard 2A8 or whatever comes after it and call it a day. Every major European state operating its own distinct tank is ridiculous and wasteful.
Better to buy drones
A drone made for a few thousand will crater a tank these days
Is it really a good idea/investment, considering what future warfare looks like with all the drones ?
Just ask Korea to buy the K2 and call it a day. Poland are manufacturing there own K2’S so I am sure Italy can get the same deal

New target for drones
In Ukraine, tanks are at best used as lousy artillery pieces, and at worst as accelerated cremation ovens for their crews.
Not convinced that these billions are going in the right direction.
People always love to forget, that you win wars with the cheapest weapons, not by bloating the price as much as possible.
