During the protest of retirees protesting in front of the Constitutional Court, a person stated to be a retired soldier attempted suicide with his service pistol.

There was a suicide attempt by retirees who protested in front of the Constitutional Court (AYM) in Ankara.

Retired associations and retired civil servants were going to make a statement before the Constitutional Court in order to express their demand for a simultaneous progressive increase across Türkiye.

According to the information obtained by BirGün, a person who was learned to be a retired soldier and whose name is not yet known, spoke about the high cost of living and the difficulty of making ends meet.

In his speech, the retiree stated that he could not make ends meet, "Shame on those who brought us to this situation" he said. The retired soldier then attempted suicide with his service pistol.

Upon notice, 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams dispatched to the scene provided first aid to the retiree who attempted suicide.

No official statement has been made yet regarding the health condition of the retired soldier.

Following the incident, retirees decided not to complete the protest and press release.
