    1. We all know it’s not zero.

But this is not how NATO members talk to one another. And supposed friends.

You don’t prepare to stab a close friend over dinner and call it “normal”.

      This is wild.

    2. So they interviewed a guy who was fired after working for pedo Palpatine for 11 days. Why would we care about this guy’s opinion? Hell, my cat is probably a better expert on geopolitics over this nobody. Only my tuxedo cat not the calico. The calico is not to be trusted.

I think the chances of an all-out invasion in the next five years are almost zero

But what about smaller skirmishes? What if they step up Arctic patrols in contested waters? What if they land a small party on a remote Canadian island?

What if they engage in non military actions that threaten our natural security? What if they start pumping water out of the Great Lakes? What if spare parts for the F-35s we purchase are not forthcoming unless we back them in some military action?

What if Trump does something radical to forestall the end of his administration?

I also don’t think it’s safe to assume that things will return to normal once Trump is out of office. The problems that put him in office for the second term haven’t gone away, including the role of private money in US politics. Whether it’s Vance or Hegseth who succeed Trump, both seem content to carry on the rhetoric of mistrust and nationalism

So what do we see in 20 or 30 years? US wealth inequality is only growing. Their national debt recently crossed the $40T mark and their social security may have to be cut by 20+% in a few short years

The US is in decline and I don’t think that decline will be peaceful or easy

    4. The chance of an alien Chihuahua landing at this moment next to me and bitting my right nut sack is also not zero.

It won’t be Military, it’ll be economic through integration and attrition.

Canada must repel all things American the best we can and pivot to the EU ASAP.

The Americans have always been, and will always be Canada’s biggest threat to sovereignty.

    6. I honestly believe any military action by the US against Canada would be the beginning of the end. You would see gross breakdown in the chain of US military command, as those of moral fibre would disobey and stand down against such a detestable order.

You would also see mass demonstration within America, and the beginning of political fracture as northern and Democrat lead states, knowing the ethical bankruptcy of the Federal US Government Executive, would be aware of finally reaching the point of no return. While many Americans are, and remain, ignorant of the current frustration and righteous anger within Canada (and the actions of their Federal Government), an outright military invasion of Canada would definitely be reacted to in a mass recoil of disgust, by all but the most delusional, ignorant and insane of the MAGA base.

The Federal US Government would then most likely see a fracturing as well, with most of the Legislative branch rebuking the actions of the Executive. The breakdown of the Republican Party would accelerate.

Any action against the US populace, conscientious objectors, or their representative State Governments, would move the entire US to the brink of a second civil war.

I believe that NATO would fracture, and Canada probably wouldn’t receive article 5 support from the other members, but the US would also be seen as a pariah and failing state.

An invasion of Canada would be bad, but it would be equally bad for the Americans.

    7. Would be a lovely time to scrap Trudeaus firearm confiscation

Just putting it out there that the States is like 0 for 3 against armed civilians

    8. I don’t think someone who became both a verb and a unit of measurement is really in a position to comment on something that he has no inside knowledge about.

At 57, I guess I’m up for killing Americans if I see the american army attacking Sudbury as we are the nickel Capitol or the world, lithium for batteries most comes from here, and other metals.

Have a signed Negan bat with barbed wire from The Walking Dead I could put to use if needed. So done with this stupidity.

us would invade Canada if the president made that decision. T tariffed Canada and threatened annexation and Canada didn’t cave. They thought it would be an easy task and Canada isn’t backing down. He wants Canada and one of his top military officers says he would follow orders to invade Canada.

      From the Ottawa citizen

A top U.S. admiral says questions about whether he would follow orders to attack Canada are “needlessly emotional” but nonetheless he would follow direction from his commander-in-chief, President Donald Trump.

Admiral Samuel Paparo, head of U.S. Pacific Command, was asked the question Sept. 2 at [a major military conference](https://ottawacitizen.com/public-service/defence-watch/canadian-forces-military-us-trade-war) being held in Victoria, B.C. in the midst of deteriorating relations between the two nations.

    11. Dear any Canadian who is actually worried about this headline.

      It is Scaramucci saying it.

That’s it… that’s all you need to know. lol.

    12. hmm… stroke the fear porn…. You know what else is not 0… Trump failing to make it to the potty… (as rumor has it)

    13. It’s okay everyone, he misunderstood the question. He thought he was responding to the amount of under age people Trump has had or has attempted to have sex with. Because we all know its definitely not 0%.

    14. Canada is too big to invade and control.

It could be attacked by some kind of madman, but it would achieve nothing in the short or medium term.

    15. Are we really just referring to Scaramucci aka The Mooch as “former Trump aide” in headlines now? Does it really mean nothing that the man begat a new measure of time that was named after him??

Makes me miss the rapid turnover of the Trump I cabinet. Instead we have to hear about ghouls like Hegseth and Bessent for months (years!) on end despite being on their 5,516th fuckup

    16. If history tells us one thing, what has become mentioned happens. Self-fulfilling prophecy. We are living in end times, for sure. I wish I die before it totally gets out of control.

    17. I mean he’s running out of time isn’t he? Assuming the Democrats take back the House, he’ll have to deal with that and stop thinking about Canada.

He’s almost half way through his second term and will be gone for good soon.

USA actually came very close in annexing Canada back in 1858. Look up, The Fraser Canyon War. Happened north of Hope BC.

Yeah, I’m gonna say, it’s far more than zero. They still have the same mentality today.

    19. ComplicatedOctopus on

It’s not zero that Canadians could burn down the white house again either. Why is it called the white house? Because the stone work was scorched so they covered it with white paint so yanks can always be reminded of their folly.

    20. There isn’t much to gain considering anyone can buy stocks in Canadian companies. They could buy whatever they want without using the army. In fact, seizing Canadian minerals, for example, would end up a mess because they would be seizing a certain percentage from existing American shareholders.

What they could do is outlaw our one-payer healthcare and force us to buy from the rip-off providers in United States.
