    1. Jokes on them, they are so tasteless we don’t buy berries from grocery stores anymore. Ok I lied, I’m too poor to afford $8 a pint. They are way too bland now though especially Driscoll. Scourge of the fruit section.

    2. Jesus I was eating those berries a couple months ago. I got to cut off america produce not just too boycot but because its no longer safe.

Basically they overcharged Canadians for toxic berries.

I started buying and picking local berries from farms in BC because of the trade war, but I’ve had my fair share of Driscoll’s when I lived in Alberta. It makes me sick that I fed my toddlers these berries over the years. I’m so disappointed in all of this and really can’t trust large corporations.

    4. Man that’s scary. I know a lot of people with young kids whose child(ren) will crush a box of these in one sitting, making multiple trips to the grocery store weekly just to re-up on berries.

What’s more fucked up and concerning is that our system failed us. Canada tested multiple shipments and found them to be higher in chemical content than legal, but there were no follow ups, warnings, penalties, etc.?

I don’t expect American companies to do what’s in the best interest of Canadian consumers. Hell, I even expect them to cut as many corners as possible to maximize profit. Our government not protecting us from that is the part that worries me deeply.

    5. “Toxicologist Daniel Green says the levels of chemicals found in the CFIA-tested berries wouldn’t make someone sick from eating just a few.

‘To get an effect, one would have to eat 19 kilograms,’  Green said from one example. ”

Given that most of their packages I have seen are around 170g, you would have to eat 112 packages of them to get to 19kg (42 pounds)… that’s a lot of berries you would probably get pretty sick well before then, shit your pants, and send your blood sugar to the moon.

      > However, the CFIA says the inspections did not lead to recalls, or a corrective action was implemented and the investigations were closed

What’s the point of having our own standards or inspections if there’s nothing going to be done to correct it, no food revalled or warning to the public?

Fuck Driscoll but our own government just shrugged and swept this under the rug

    7. Just tossed mine..I basically only eat raspberries and golden green apples..for years..so upset..cant trust any company these days..profit over people.

    8. This started as a whisper on instagram last year, I didn’t know how true it was but started avoiding Driscoll, glad I did!

These berries have and will always taste like dogshit. Not sure why some people like them.

    10. I would be extremely unsurprised. I stopped buyin Driscoll’s fruits years ago, they taste like garbage.

    11. I’ve been paranoid about US products coming to us with unsafe levels of anything. Their corps don’t give a hoot about anything or anyone, just how to make the next dollar and our testing can’t always be correct. There’s a margin of error.

It’s a little terrifying to see it can actually happen. Let alone to fruit children like to eat.

    12. So, this information was also shared months ago, the federal government unbanned the use of pesticides. I stopped buying it immediately. What a joke of a business… this pesticide stuff.

Shit, I ate SO MUCH of those pre-Trump. I always bought them on sale at Maxi. I figure I ate at least 20 packs a year.

A corrupt, fascist oligarchy’s products and services cannot be trusted. Their word is worthless, their food is toxic, their citizens are literally proud to be virus vectors. End-stage Rome is not pretty, don’t eat the berries.

That’s US “unfettered capitalism” at work! That’s one of the purposes of government: to protect ourselves from being poisoned.

We stopped using American produce last winter. Not as difficult to do as we thought unless the stores are mislabeling.
