It’s folklore man. Be grateful we didn’t white wash it like Americans do all the time
I work in a shop very closeby and I just tell tourist it’s a monument from the congo period.
I regret nothing.
I just came back from a business trip to our US headquarters and brought Antwerpse handjes as a local treat. Ended up having to tell the entire folklore to our entire department with a mic, lol
When I moved back to the states my little cousins helped me unpack. They were like 9 or 10 at the time and one of them pulled out my little Manneken Pis figurine from a box. I had a big laugh trying to explain it to them.
I bought it on a field trip around Brussels when I was about that same age. Seemed totally normal to me. 😅
