This is genuinely crazy, they don’t give a fuck. For Russians to accept this there is no bottom that can be reached and I knew that post Soviet education there was being ravaged but not to this extent.

14% less students these days vs year 2000/2001 and hypercentralization together with excessive urbanization. What used to be 3-4 schools before now go into massive school for idk like 3000+ students.
That’s NOTHING compared to China.
Due to China’s falling birth rate, more than **42,000 kindergartens closed** in the two years 2024 & 2025.
Obviously, this does not bode well for elementary schools, colleges, and universities, going forward.

Centralized and bigger more modern schools have been opened up in the bigger cities.
And schools especially in the republics have been very…Segragated between ethnic russian schools and other ethnicities and nationalities (these Segragated schools have mostly ended) with bigger centralized school replacing them.
Russia is also urbanizing at a rapid rate and many rural schools have been abandoned and homeschooling became more easy popular and common in rural areas.
Private education also became more common in some communities.
You don’t need schools to sent people to the front…

Weird that Germany has more secondary schools now, with like half the population, meanwhile the US has as many schools as Russia now post-consolidation, despite having more than double the population.

It appears to be mostly a consequence of demographic decline over the last two and half decades.
Russians have fewer kids and fewer kids means fewer schools.
Plus to save money by taking resources from people that don’t matter to Putin he has done away with smaller rural schools and concentrate children in larger more efficient schools.
Important to note that not a single one of them was closed because of Ukrainian bombs.
Turns out Russia likes to take out enemy schools so much that they end up taking out their own too.
Can confirm. Went to a school 5 minutes away from my home in Russia in 2000s, until they closed it under false pretense of being too close to a bridge that was about to being built next to it (the same bridge collapsed 2 months before it was supposed to be open btw). We all were diverged to a different school that was 30′ away instead and had much worse teachers. Thanks my parents I got to a lyceum a year after it, which was 45′ away, but it gave me good education, which transferred to me being able to finish university and get the hell away from this country. My children will never need any school in Russia now, so at the end I guess their math checked out.
I believe our president can exceed that number!
