Lord of the Tatra Mountains. A great patriot. An extremely modest man who only traveled by third-class trains. He saved the Tatra Mountains from destruction. He built railways, waterworks, power plants, and planted forests. He spared no money for charity.
By auction, he purchased the Zakopane estates for 460,002 Rhenish zlotys and 3 cents, beating Józef Goldfinger’s offer by one cent. He put everything on one card and won the trial of the century for Poland. In an international court, he obtained a judgment confirming that Morskie Oko belonged to Galicia, which later placed it within the borders of independent Poland, which were created on the basis of the border of Galicia with the Kingdom of Hungary.
He endured years of trials, threats and ridicule. He saved our most sacred mountains and then bequeathed his gigantic fortune to Poland.
Before his death in 1924, he signed an act establishing the “Zakłady Kórnickie” Foundation, transferring all his gigantic fortune to the Polish nation.
This donation included: the Kórnik Castle with the priceless Kórnik Library, Zakopane estates (including the Tatra forests), numerous real estates and collections of works of art.
Years later, the areas in the Tatra Mountains he donated became the foundation for the creation of the Tatra National Park. According to the count’s will, this estate was to serve Polish science and education.
He died with almost nothing of his own. One of the most unsung heroes of our history.

Tak wtedy śpiewano.
A jeszcze ciekawsze jest to że przed rozbiorami granicą w górach przechodziła przez najwyższe Tatry w tym szczyt Gerlachu. Opierała się o Polski Grzebień, stąd zresztą jego nazwa. Nie było żadnego oficjalnego transferu. Ot po prostu zaczęto nagle rysować mapy inaczej.
Nikt w sumie nie wie kiedy i jak nagle tereny te znalazły się w granicach Węgier. Jedna z teorii mówi że wylobbował to po cichu u urzędników austriackich rod węgierskich posiadaczy ziemskich.

Ogólnie chyba ród Zamoyskich to jednen z najbardziej pozytywnych i patriotycznych rodów w Polsce. Nie śledzę historii ale poprawcie mnie jeśli jestem błędzie.
