    1. The PQ have to watch their step though. Carney is far more popular than they are in the province and also received more vote share than they did during the last election. Its a thin line to walk but populists are rarely ever able to walk it well.

    2. I’m wondering if there’s ever been a situation where a PQ premier is *significantly* less popular in Quebec than the federal PM.  I can see the “let’s pick endless fights” strategy backfiring quite significantly in this situation.

Much to PSPP’s chagrin, Quebec voters are pretty much completely aligned with the rest of Canada on the desire to work together.  It’s going to be a difficult balance to strike and one that doesn’t naturally gel with his combative personality.

He’s a lot like Pollievre.  We saw it in election night, he couldn’t *resist* stepping on the Liberal leader’s speech with the timing of his own.  That instinct for petty wins is gonna cause him problems in a minority govt.

Mulcair just hate the PQ and is incredibly biased.

This is the same guy who, in every debate, rated PSPP the lowest, always saying he had a bad debate. He predicted a CAQ minority government with the PQ going nowhere. He is always bashing the PQ and the independantists, it’s impossible for him to say something positive about that political option.

This is the same dude who got offered a once in a lifetime opportunity from Jack Layton with the orange wave conquering Québec and he completely killed the momentum, leading the NPD back to non-existence.

He doesn’t analyze anything, he just makes noise like a clown wanting attention would do.

    4. > “Picking fights with Ottawa. He’s going to start laying the groundwork for the fight on Bill 96 and Bill 21, in anticipation of the Supreme Court decisions,” Mulcair said when asked about the premier-designate’s priorities for his first 100 days.

We need to be two to fight. If Ottawa didn’t decide to fight, there would be no fight. Besides, it’s not like the PQ started either of those.

    5. As a Quebec nationalist, I like Carney. Not in love with PSPP, but matter of fact is popularity doesn’t last forever. It will be true of Carney, PSPP and every politician after them.
