Elon Musk’s latest Tesla Roadster demonstration is pretty impressive, especially after nearly nine years of waiting. Seeing a car drive upside down and perform a mid-air flip makes you wonder how far this technology could go. But beyond the demonstration, I’m curious about whether flying cars could actually become part of everyday life. There are still big questions about safety, cost, regulations and how this technology would work outside a controlled environment. Could we realistically see flying cars on public roads in the next decade, or will they remain something only a few wealthy people can afford?

Why was this already reposted? No one cared the first time.

Which rail project is he trying to kill with this stunt?

That little stunt looks really practical, legal and completely reasonable for the general public!…Can’t wait for the crying from those who pay money to a snake oil salesman

I saw it and thought it was pretty cool but definitely not something that I can afford.

It’s about time, now that humans have fully mastered the art of driving on land.

Is this cool. Yes. Is this going to make my groceries and gas more affordable? No. I’m awfully tired of this whole bread and circuses crap. While I think having something like this is cool, it’s not nearly as practical as just trying to get by, day-to-day.

Another Tesla project that’ll exist only in this demo. Also Musk belongs in prison.

Elon who did a N*zi salute at the GOP conference after Trump was elected? Naw, I’m good

This would be cool if it was some old-ass Evel Knievel stunt. Dumb as hell for a car company.

Watched this live, the thrusters are so cool man. Watch the actual video and tell me you wouldn’t dream of stuff like this as a kid.

Okay, I’ll risk looking like an idiot here, but what is the demonstration supposed to be demonstrating? I watched the video: the car seems to slowly go up a vertical ramp which is really bizarre and cool but I don’t understand how or why. Is it a special ramp? Does the car have specific tires for this purpose? I just genuinely don’t understand what part of this is supposed to translate into a consumer product or what my take away about the roadster is supposed to be.

This looks pretty cool, but the main concern with flying cars is the massively increased potential for harm vs regular cars, while not having all that much tangible benefit (fly over some traffic)
Car accidents are already brutal, making the car fly just adds another layer of complexity for the driver while also picking a fight with gravity. Any type of critical failure while in the air leads to a scenario where the car crashes through the roof of your grandma’s house and catches fire
The only way to successfully integrate flying cars into society is to treat them like helicopters by requiring additional licences, stricter engineering standards, and communication with ATCs

Why are we posting fucking Nazis and protectors of pedophilia all over Reddit? Wtf people, just stop it already. I can’t wait for his inevitable collapse into obscurity. I’ll never understand how this crayon eater convinced the world he’s some super intellect, he’s nothing but a leech.

It uses suction to hang and can only hang on a special, highly smooth, non-porous surface. Cannot hang on regular tarmac.
