As Elon Musk's humanoid robots advance, the boundaries between human and machine capabilities continue to blur. While these robots promise to revolutionize industries and augment our productivity, it's essential to consider the potential consequences on human labor and skills. Will robots become our partners or replacements? As automation assumes routine and repetitive tasks, humans will need to adapt and acquire skills that complement AI-driven machines. Creativity, empathy, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities will become increasingly valuable. However, the transition may also exacerbate job displacement and income inequality. To mitigate these risks, we must invest in education and re-skilling programs, ensuring that workers are equipped to thrive in an AI-driven future. By doing so, we can harness the power of humanoid robots to enhance human potential, rather than diminish it.

  1. I don’t feel like a lot of the jobs being replaced by robots initially are jobs people love. Who grew up dreaming to work on an assembly line? You do it because it pays well, has job security, a pension, and so on. Do people dream of working in a warehouse filling Amazon orders? Flipping burgers? Being a clerk at a store?

My thinking is that automation can replace a lot of the less desirable jobs. Of course we have this idea that everyone has to have a job, but when we get a point where robots do everything, who do we still need jobs?

Are there any interesting articles or books looking at what a jobless society would look like? Is there a way that could work? Of course right now you need a paycheck to live but what if that wasn’t the case?

  2. This thread explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics on the future of industry and workforce. Please keep the conversation centered around the technological advancements, benefits, challenges, and implications for industries and society.

Let’s maintain a respectful and courteous dialogue, avoiding discussions about individual companies or their owners. Instead, share your insights, ask questions, and engage in thoughtful debates about the role of AI and Robotics in shaping the future of work and industries.

Elon musk cannot be counted on as a source of information or predictions.

  4. Nothing yet, a company using a product like that at their own place means nothing vs actually succeeding as a product.

AKA, the trick is that OTHER ppl will want to buy it, not that the company that made it would use it. 🙂

It will be decades until these robots could impact significant amounts of jobs. They’re just toys for now.
