    1. Literally what gets you in prison these days ? Blocking the motorway, jail, literally stab someone….

    2. ferrel_hadley on

A miscarriage of justice. That level of violence deserves a serious custodial sentence.

    3. It wasn’t for just blocking the motorway, it was for specific breaches of court orders with no mitigating defence.

    4. 5 years for planning to cause traffic, nothing for this… okay then, normal country i guess

    5. This is appalling. She refused to sleep with him- had to justify to him why she would not, and then he violently attacked her and slashed her. Literally only met her a few hours earlier. This is disgusting that he’s not in prison. He’s a danger to women. When is this Country going to take violence against women and girls seriously. This “judge” needs dismissing permanently.

    6. >At Wood Green crown court, Judge David Aaronberg KC handed Rafferty a two-year jail sentence and agreed to suspend it, in part because of court delays and a lack of prison places.

      Bingo.

We have to keep prison capacity free to bang up protestors, there’s no room for violent thugs and sex offenders right now.

Second chance after beating a woman and splashing her with a knife?
Honestly this country has gone to the fucking dogs

    9. Tiny supporting role in 2013. Hardly “eastenders actor”, hardly even “actor”, just a violent animal.

Another reminder that the criminal justice system in this country is there to protect wealth and property, not people.

    11. >Harry Rafferty flew into a ‘rage’ after woman rejected his sexual advances

That cunt should not be a free man

Some key points that strike me from the article,

      >At Wood Green crown court, Judge David Aaronberg KC handed Rafferty a two-year jail sentence and agreed to suspend it, in part because of court delays and a lack of prison places.

“I don’t want to lock you up but you have got to get your life sorted out,” said the judge. “You have a drinking problem, and you are drinking in the last chance saloon.”

In a victim impact statement, the woman said that afterwards she lost friends, felt suicidal and became afraid to leave her own home.

Judge Aaronberg criticised him for pleading not guilty to the assault charge, in the face of “overwhelming” evidence, and subjecting the woman to cross- examination at trial.

The judge took into account Rafferty’s mental health struggles, his ongoing alcohol treatment, the delays in the court case, the shortage of prison places and his lack of previous convictions when deciding to suspend the jail term for two years.

      Jesus fucking Christ!

This guy seriously assaults someone, pleads not guilty despite the evidence, leaves the woman feeling suicidal, and the judge says he doesn’t want to lock him up.

Fucking ridiculous. There have been imcidents whereby someome has self harmed with a knife in public amd gotten tougher sentences.

It also means that he’s going to be doing commmunity service along with people doing it for non-violent offences.

Imagine just wanting to go out and some guy keeps pestering you and you say no, then he has the gall to ask you to justify it, then gets violent and slashes you. You go to the police and all through a court case and he gets away with it. Definitely needs an undue leniency review, what message does it send to women, the streets aren’t safe and nothing will be done about it that’s what.

      >I’m surprised we don’t see vigilante justice more when this sort of brutality goes unpunished. I think it has to do with who the crimes are overwhelming perpetuated against.

I literally just said this earlier on the thread about the lack of rapists getting convicted.

I would chuck the cunt of an oil rig in the north sea, deserves nothing less. Shame on the judge.

    17. _TLDR_Swinton on

The judge will say “we couldn’t have predicted this” when he finally goes on to kill someone.

    18. LonelyStranger8467 on

Honestly, this kind of injustice system needs protesting.

Judges have absolutely lost the plot.

What the fuck? This is like.. a Jack the Ripper style attack. Why the fuck is he free???

Spared jail for slashing a woman open for telling you to piss off. Truly a broken society.

    21. Antique_Cricket_4087 on

If this was a woman, we wouldn’t hear the end of it about how unfair the justice system is to men.

    22. gerhardsymons on

The judge is making decisions out of his pay-grade. His job is to oversee cases brought before him, including sentencing.

It is the Home Secretary’s responsibility to manage the penal system.

    23. sadatquoraishi on

What on earth did I just read? How is this a suspended sentence? What does someone have to do to get imprisoned now?

    24. Again meanwhile we’re throwing Just Stop Oil protesters in prison for 5 years for conducting a zoom meeting.

This guy gets nothing after stabbing a woman.

      Bizzaroo Britain strikes again

    25. This is pretty normal now.

If you don’t like it then you have to vote for change not just get upset.
