      I genuinely fear for Muslim communities across the country. A Jewish correspondent on Times Radio accurately called what happened in Southport a pogrom and such attacks may spread throughout the country.

      The instigators, the likes of Farage, fox, and Robinson need to be locked up. At the very least, any MP trying to use this for their own ends and not calm it down needs to lose their jobs.

      But crucially, this government needs to make a clear example of these so called “social media” companies for the massive role they are playing in radicalisation.

      There may be a wave of this kind of political violence and its may come from different parts of the political spectrum. So who ever is starting it, whatever your closeness or distance from the cause, condemn political violence without hesitation and do not let people “the voice of the unheard” or “justifiable anger” it into being acceptable.

      Condemn people who take to the streets with violence.

      All of them.

      Literally not a soul would disagree that stabbing a child is bad.

      They can bring out the old ‘the government is responsible’ etc etc…. but what exactly are they meant to do, employ armed guards at every school, nursery, children’s centre etc etc?

      Whatever this develops into over the next days, weeks and/or years, a significant portion of the blame for creating these Black Hundreds can be laid directly at the feet of the British press ecosystem and at senior politicians of both major parties, including several in the present Cabinet.

      A week ago I felt that with the airport footage (that as we all knew was most likely without the appropriate context & that’s subsequently proven to be the case) it felt 2011/Mark Duggan vibes and the protest outside the Police Station did give Tottenham 2011 vibes especially with the Bus being torched but predictably the far Right have exceeded themselves by going even further in multiple locations off of the back of disinformation from a Twitter account (or X or whatever the fuck it’s called these days). Can we stop whatever the timeline is that we are on at the moment as this is bullshit genuinely.

      I think the law needs a reform that if you speculate on the identity of a suspect, or misidentify someone of a crime, it moves from being a civil law you just get sued for slander from, to a criminal law you get something akin to contempt. Especially if such naming is designed to incite or inflame tensions.
