Remember Labour said they weren’t going to take action on putting the limit back on banker’s bonuses so if you voted for them, you voted for this 👍

Edit: as usual Labour voters downvoting inconvenient facts about their party. No less blindly tribal than the “Boomers” they claim moral superiority over.

Now watch the hatred for Banks, profit, money, capitalism, and everything else roll in.

Edit: Seems I was right, just look at the pure hatred that would make the Sith jealous. It’s nice to know the left and the knowledge on these subjects (or lack of) hasn’t changed.

    3. Good! The government has zero right to dictate personal compensation.

Utterly outrageous populist law. Put in to appease people who know nothing about banking, politically they had to ‘punish’ the bankers.

    4. I really don’t care how much bankers get paid. It’s a drop in the ocean when we look at the overall economy. The issue is stagnant wages, even amongst “high earners”, while housing prices are out of control. If some people are getting big bonuses somewhere then good on them. Just focus on fixing the rest of it.

Good. London being hamstrung vs NY the last decade has been embarrassing.

    6. The whole bankers bonus thing was a stupid headline grabber from the financial crisis from 15 years ago.

A bonus ban is pointless, if you want equality go for a cap on earnings as a % of the lowest paid workers.

For general outrage at their pay, just tax them more…

Has there ever been a cap?
I’ve had 120%-150% bonuses before and I know of others that have had 400% bonuses +.

The rest of our remuneration is made up in other ways. E.g. we have investment schemes that are returning on average ÂŁ28 for every ÂŁ1 invested.

Bonuses are a drop in the ocean when you look at what’s received from coinvest/carry schemes

    8. This is a non news story preying to be a news story to get people excited

For anyone that knows how banks today operate, you will know bonus caps don’t have much impact on how people operate

Bankers LOVED the cap: all it did was massively increase fixed salaries.

One million fixed salary is better that a bigger number spread over years, in equities that can go up OR down, can be clawed back etc…

People need to remember that a big part of the reason why there was a cap put on bankers bonuses was because before there was a cap, bankers would engage in more high risk trades to try and get said bonuses which played a part in the financial crash of 2008.
