    1. All I want to say to Labour is: Do it. UK employers and employees benefits are so stingey compared to the rest of the world. If Labour want my vote in the future, they need to show they actually care about workers and this would be a good first step.

If they want to solve the pension crisis they should just make the state pension into a private pension system where your money is put aside for you and you can only claim what you pay in.

Anyone who screams “I’ve paid in all my life” would not be affected in any way. They would still get their money. It’s **their** money. And if they die before it runs out then their family gets it, unlike the current system where the government keep it.

But under the current system, you can spend your entire life on unemployment benefits and still claim a full state pension. While you’re claiming unemployment benefits your NI is paid for you.

So if you’ve not paid anything in your whole life claiming benefits, why are you suddenly entitled to three times the money when you go over a certain age?

    3. Excellent. time for the barons to feel some pain. The “i know my place” types will hate being helped though.

    4. Is this so she can look at scrapping the state pension or raising the age again?
Imagine a bricklayer, scaffolder, roofer, farmer, postman… The list goes on….. Working until 70.
