    1. Are people eating Greggs for dinner? Isn’t it the kind of place you grab a bit of filth when walking past rather somewhere to get a “meal”.

    2. Honestly I’d rather have Greggs than McDonald’s late at night. If they start staying open till 10 or midnight I’m all for it.

A £1.50 or so bake always felt more substantial than a burger on a saver menu.

    3. Eating at a Greg’s or a McDonald’s feels like having a bored wank these days, not as satisfying as you thought it would be at the end and just leaves you with a sense of unfulfillment.

I so hope I live to see a high street renaissance.

McD’s has abandoned the ground of “Quick, cheap and filling” meals. Greggs could snatch that right up.

I for one welcome our new flakey pastry overlords, first breakfast, now dinner, soon the world

What food would people want from Greggs that would replace a “meal” from McDonalds/a chicken shop/chippy? I’m all for demonopolising given how pricey McDonalds has gotten, but I feel like they operate a different niche lol

Even though it’s obviously shit food, it’s very good shit food. It feels like it’s decent quality.

A pepperoni pizza slice and some of their wedges would be a better dinner than a McDonald’s burger and chupsn

    8. You can’t really have Greggs for your dinner tho, not in the same way you can have a McDonald’s.

    9. Serious-Amoeba1141 on

If they can start making sausage and egg McMuffins I’ll be there with open pockets and open legs

    10. Unpopular opinion but I just dont get the fuss about greggs. I’ve had like one really well cooked pastry from there. The rest are always soggy and overcooked.

    11. Kind_Dream_610 on

Not sure as I’ve not ever looked when I go in as it’s usually for a quick snack lunch, but do they offer things to go with the pastries (like side salads/fries/beans/etc) if not then this is a pretty poor evening meal. Just lots of high carb brown food.

    12. Not that i go in Mcdonalds much these days, but those self service machines were the downfall of them.

I get why they install them, they try and upsell all the time when you add stuff to your basket. But it takes alot longer now to order, bypass all the upselling crap and get your food.

Its still fast sure, but the advantage Mcdonalds was you could be in and out within about 30 seconds if it was quiet as the food was already prepped, perfect when needing to catch a train. Now with those machines it takes longer than that to find what you want and pay, then wait for it to be made up as everything is made to order

    13. Problem is you go in there after a certain time and they never seem to have anything. It’s either finished for the day or will be a wait.

They can’t compete with Maccy’s in the teatime market until they actually have their stuff available!

    14. All they have to do is offer a decent burger and chicken burger with some nicely seasoned fries like KFC and they will do it

Never once thought to myself ” I really want a dry but also soggy, flaky, overrated pasty for dinner”

    16. Particular-Solid4069 on

The food sucks it falls apart and no variety. Maccys forever!!! Even though their just another big bucks corporation rinsing us and paying us peanuts. Even though we working like monkeys for them can’t even remember dips and straws

    17. Funnily enough most days I have McDonald’s breakfast and then greggs for lunch 🥲

    18. The breakfast deals at Greggs are great, the app where you get every 10th free is far superior to McDonald’s too.

    19. lefttillldeath on

McDonald’s has really lost its way the past few years.

I honestly don’t remember there food being as bad as it is right now, the fries especially are absolutely shocking even when compared to your local chaicken and chips place. They really don’t travel well either.

    20. The Greggs breakfast deal is so much better value than Maccies and feels more like real food. I appreciate neither are healthy.

Tim Hortons is better than both of them for breakfast though. Good value, £5 or so, and tastier and bigger than both.

I’d love Greggs to stay open later! It’s easily one of the best chains in the UK right now.

Not a fan of evening Greggs. Any time I go in after 3pm there’s little to no choice. The pizza or pastry’s are all dried out, you get the dodgy steak bake nobody wants left with the filling exploded out the top and sticking to the tray. The last pizza that’s burnt to a crisp nobody wants. They fill the cake thing with a million and one sprinkle top doughnuts as that’s all that’s left. They need to drastically alter their quality post 3pm if they want to take on restaurants in the evening imo

    23. I live in Cornwall so Greg’s isn’t at all big here, I think there is 1. It’s usually independent bakers in smaller towns or McDonnalds in bigger ones.

    24. Maybe it’s just because it’s pretty much the only place for lunch on our industrial estate, but if I walk into Greggs any time after 3 there is almost nothing in the fridges and everything behind the counter is stone cold. I just get a maccies on the way home instead if that’s the case.

    25. rationalplan10 on

I don’t bother much with Macdonald’s anymore, no food ready and waiting, all to order you end up waiting 15 to 20 minutes while they serve all the drive throughs and deliveroo drivers. I just want a burger and fries!

    26. Dawnbringer_Fortune on

Not surprised. McDonald’s sales dropped. Greggs sales went up significantly.

    27. Hear that McDonald’s, you have to focus more on providing lunches and dinners for people. Get rid of the crappy breakfast menu and give the people what they want. Not being able to buy lunch at 10:00 because “we are still on our breakfast menu” is unacceptable.

    28. Alarmed_Inflation196 on

Sorry but a Greggs breakfast is rank

It’s 50/50 whether the bacon is dry af.

I want a proper egg, not an omelette.

The sausages resemble no other sausage known to man

They use margarine, which is disgusting

Despite only serving 3 ingredients, they’re almost always sold out of 1 of them

    29. Oooh, Greggs just started doing a chicken burger and a fish finger sandwich near my work place. And they are really good value for money under £4 or £5 with a drink and potato wedges. Plus their app/loyalty scheme works well. So Think this could work for them taking some of the market.

    30. Ecstatic_Stable1239 on

I’d rather have a kebab, at least there’s some nutritional benefit of salad and protein. I dread to think of the shit in Gregg’s food, it’s all carbs, “add a side of potato wedges” yeah that’s all you need more carbs.

    31. Good ..would rather support a British company than American..oh God reddit don’t bam me for being racist now will you

    32. McDonalds deserve everything they get. Handed their restaurants over to Delivery drivers for easier money. Killed the Restaurant experience. Not a single self serve till in Greggs across the land, staff are recognised by a dedicated Trade Union to their industry and they’re still smashing it.

    33. EntropicMortal on

      I’ve not had McDonald’s in about 10 years…

I eat Greggs maybe twice a week by comparison… Greggs always feels like decent value to me.

    34. Let’s be honest, McDonald’s is shit food. The only thing it had going for it was the price
