Buys a leasehold, complains about their lease

It’s a shit system that should obviously go, but you can’t really complain when you knew exactly what you were buying… renting is better than owning a leasehold for crying out loud.

    2. Something definitely needs to be done about Leasehold property arrangements but those who have bought flats in a block will need to recognise that regardless of how the block is owned, whether that is through the current Freehold/Leasehold arrangement or by some arrangement where the flat owners own a joint share of the Freehold when major works are needed they will be bearing the costs and at some point over the life of the building some of those costs could be significant.

In larger blocks where there are significant common areas having a management company to take responsibility for things like electrical checks, fire safety check, asbestos checks can be beneficial as it can be complex and if you get it wrong there can be stiff penalties. Being able to select the management company does however give some control over costs.
