So that’s twice in a matter of years an American has fled the country after dangerous driving causing either fatal or serious injury! How do they even have the audacity to appeal that?? He deserves a lengthy sentence at least! Awful.

As an aside, this is an example of why doing away with exit passport control was a bad idea. The fact that someone was able to just leave the country on a commercial flight while on bail demonstrates the holes in the current system of having airline staff do checks at the gate. Ofc setting up exit controls like the EU have now would be a pain, but we used to have them before 1998 iirc, and really shouldn’t have got rid of them in the first place.
