    1. > Sweeney, from Church Lawton near Alsager, posted the comment after riots flared across England in the wake of the killings of three young girls in Southport, last month.

      > The court heard she was responding to an online post picturing people helping to repair the mosque in Southport after it was damaged during violent disorder that followed the stabbings.

      > The court was told Sweeney wrote: “It’s absolutely ridiculous. Don’t protect the mosque. Blow the mosque up with the adults in it.”

That she only got 15 months for this just seems unfair but I’ll let the judge use their expertise in this. However, if this story was re a Muslim doing the same thing to a church it would have been non stop breaking news.

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    2. She looks like she shares photos of golliwogs saying “How far can I travel around Facebook?? Before it gets banned how far can I travel?”

Whi is it that the people who do these sorts of things almost always look exactly like you’d expect them to?

“Sarah Badrawy, prosecuting, accepted Sweeney’s post was made out of anger, not because of racism”

I wouldn’t have accepted that so easily as by the point people were clearing up the mosque it was apparent that the attacker wasn’t even a Muslim, at least to anybody with a brain. Sounds very “I’m not racist but… I do threaten death upon minorities I dislike.”

    5. Seems like punching down.

When are they going to prosectute the journalists in the Mail and the Telegraph who’ve been stoking this for years?

When are they going to prosecute Elon Musk?

She looks like a miserable cunt too, so prison will be well suited to her, enjoy…. ..

This is so scary. The UK really does not have freedom of speech.

This could easily have been a bad joke. Many comedians make jokes like this or worse. Are we going to lock up Frankie Boyle or Ricky Gervais for some of the jokes they’ve made?

And this comment is getting downvoted. Why do people in the UK not care about their rights at all? We’ll be out of the ECHR soon if people don’t start paying attention to their rights…

Edit: I’m checking out. Once again, I find myself frustrated by how little UK citizens care about their rights. How short sighted do you have to be to think this woman should be locked up for 15 months due to a stupid comment on Facebook? Do you feel safer because this woman is “off the streets”?

    8. If this reaction has taught us anything it’s that the police should have been much more proactive for years since. If witless keyboard warriors making vile threats were dealt with on an ongoing basis you’d not have half this shit. Everyone thinks they can and will get away with it. Which is why prosecutions need to continue when such sentiments are posted, whenever it happens.

      Talk violence and suffer.

    9. The whole of the UK seems like a tinderbox right now. I hope its just the summer heat and it will pass but if its not then as a nation we have some serious self-questioning to do

It’s impressive how quickly the Police are dealing with these matters and also impressive that the Courts are able to prosecute so many people so quickly !
The response has been incredible, it shows that this type of behaviour is being ruthlessly targeted and so it should !

The amount of arguments I’ve been in on Facebook with racists is unbelievable this week, how any of them haven’t been charged is beyond me the stuff they say is racist and verging on genocide of an entire ethnic group in this country

I basically only follow Elon musk on x, my feed is full of racist comments like what she made. Cartoons of a guy dragging an anchor around a globe with the word “blacks” written on the anchor. Videos showing crime being done by non white people with the caption “cultural enrichers”. I’d say 50% of my feed is like that.

I can’t believe we’re giving out prison sentences for this sort of thing. It’s all over x.

    14. I thought being a carer to her husband might have got her off. Certainly worked for this guy-https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/08/04/father-battered-daughter-iron-bar-spared-jail/

And before the chat about using the Telegraph comes up, there isn’t a single article in the guardian mentioning the guy

Fantastic how quickly the justice system can move if need be!

If you are a literal child r@pist from Rotherham or a nonce BBC presenter they will leave you be for decades, if you post a naughty thing on the internet you’re getting sent down in nanoseconds.

    16. Meanwhile, video evidence of them on the roof of a Hindu temple, damaging and taking down the flag exists as well as causing further damage. The police: just don’t give a fuck!

    17. I worry that people like this will only become more hate-filled as a result of being jailed. They might see this as them being abandoned for Muslims by their country and hate them even more.

It wasn’t a threat though, was it? She just posted dumb shit and has been caged for it.

Worked as a carer as well and had no previous record.

    19. Cynical_Classicist on

I wonder if the likes of Douglas Murray snarling over how Muslims are destroying the country will pass a comment on this.
