    1. The Met is one of the largest police forces in the world and one of the worst funded. England and Wales has some of the lowest numbers of police officers per 100,000 population in the world. We then expect the police to investigate every single crime, otherwise they face criticism from the media, and social media, for not doing enough with limited funding and low numbers, while striving to be one of the most accountable police forces in the world (and despite the negative press, they are).

Something is going to break eventually and people’s expectations of what they want the police to do needs to change, otherwise give them the funding and numbers to deliver the services people want and to the high level that they want. No wonder British policing is in the gutter as they can’t win given the current circumstances and environment.

    2. Uh no money, no police. More money, more police! It’s kind of simple really. Even the article acknowledges a £92 million funding gap the Met have right now. How can you solve crime when you are broke?
