This small 1mm-thin chip by xMEMS uses piezo vibrations to move air. We’ve seen similar small air moving systems like Frore’s AirJet in the past, but this new product is much smaller and designed to be placed on top of even small chips providing compact air movement and heat dissipation.
The video is basically an advertisement promoting the company, but it has a nice demo of the device and shows the scale well when he’s holding it. MEMS devices have a lot of potential and we’ll be seeing them more in the future.

Realistically, how much cooling does it actually provide on a mobile device? Otherwise we would have seen this adopted already no?
