Fabulous, I’ve always heard that train tickets in this country were too cheap. A terrific decision, just what the people wanted.
You know it’s fucked when you can buy an air ticket out for cheaper than a train from London to Liverpool.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this country invented rail. No excuse for it to be as poor and dilapidated as it is currently.
The number of people travelling by train has not increased as expected and is one of the things in Rachel Reeve’s big hole. I was assuming that was because it was grossly expensive and unreliable. We could try fixing that but I guess milking those who have no other choice is an alternative.
I’m so at the point that I’m done with this country. An exit to Europe is looking more and more likely.
Trains are an expensive load of shite in the UK. Go anywhere else and trains are cheaper and operate in a way where good value and service is the priority. Imagine that.

As a student railcard user I doubt I will notice the decrease, however, it is definitely a step in the wrong direction as it signals a lack of understanding about who is using the railways.

That part makes no sense. The rail prices go up anyway making the railcard discount lessened as I’m still spending more each year. So yes sure it’s still £30 but the price of the ticket goes up so I’m always paying more.

sure why not, the costs are ludicrous and the service terrible anyway, why not drop the facade entirely.
It’s a small change but still a pisstake our train fares are so extortionate compared to other developed countries
I guess we have to pay those train drivers their over bloated salaries somehow!
The rail industry is just one of the many rent-seeking and racketeering sectors in the UK.
Remember every time you buy a train ticket that most rail lines are owned by foreign states
I utterly despise rail and everything and everyone associated with it in this country
Railcards shouldn’t exist. Not because young people shouldn’t get discounts but because trains should be cheap enough that we don’t need railcards. They should be affordable for all. Currently it’s cheaper for me to drive pretty much anywhere than it is to take a train.
