If the world leaders could stop dragging us into a nuclear apocalypse instead of making plans for it that would be great.
The threat of nuclear war is very much a direct attack on the UK. Russia could bypass the EU countries and strike the UK. Europe would not respond in kind you can bet the house, if it’s left, on that. They would be cowed into obeisance.
The whole idea of having sufficient ground forces and an airforce is to protect the country, help our allies in case of invasion and project power overseas in areas of UK interest.
All UK political parties are leaving the country and its allies open to military threats due to inability to respond with adequate forces.
I will not fight until we get anime pleasure bots… but by then it will be bot warfare so I’ll have to sit it out

We don’t really need a strong military and aren’t in any immediate danger. Mod funding should go mostly towards the RAF and RN. We haven’t been invaded in nearly a millennium and our nuclear weapons are an effective deterrent

Bluntly, it’s not going to happen.

My mate quit the army said the living conditions where terrible. I think most of the lads he was with in there have moved on too, it’s really quite worrying .

If they are implying nuclear war is likely it’s not worth it, we should all just commit suicide. Who the fuck wants to live through threads?
We should bring back national service to increase our reserves or even create a foreign legion of immigrants. But the problem will always be the UK government is fucking useless at organising anything of scale that doesn’t involve giving money to their mates.
I’m tired of being told I “need” to do this, or “need to prepare” for that. I’m just a poorly paid citizen trying to get by before I inevitably get sent off to be abused in an old people’s home, why tf does it always become “we” when some dumb political mf forgets how to talk in a conference and starts a war?
The more money somebody has then the longer their offspring should have mandatory conscription for.
Granted I’ve not read the article but if you mobilise a large land force to get fight potentially on a foreign shore.
Said land force begins to win the war then nukes will inevitability start getting fired at said peoples homelands. What is the point in reality.
People used to go to war to protect those back home but in the age of nuclear weapons they can be completely wiped out with a couple missiles.
We need to be in a position where we can fight off any aggressor ourselves without relying on an external force for backup.
The special relationships and allyships are great but not set in stone.
