    1. This has got to be a life sentence.

And as the article points out the rhetoric of the media and the government at the time certainly didn’t help matters

      >He was plotted an attack on solicitor Toufique Hossain, the firm’s Director of Public Law who had represented asylum seekers arriving in the UK on small boats.
Two days before the attack, Mr Hossain was named in the press as a lawyer who was representing asylum seekers who had been due for deportation, but their flight was cancelled due to fresh human rights legal challenges.

    3. Waiting for our regulars to arrive with “Just for posting on Facebook! Lefty police state!”

    4. This is what listening to grifters like Farage does.

Endless “fear of the other” pushed online, form parties like Reform UK and from right wing media leads to this.

    5. “Scotland Yard said Medlock “wanted to provide a ‘rallying cry’ to inspire other extreme right-wing terrorists”.”

      Seems like a far-right accelerationist

Man these white people need to be stopped, send em back where they came from!

Oh wait they’re from here?… Then where do we send them?

    7. I don’t know why it says ‘far right extremist’. These people keep telling me they’re just a little right-of-centre and have totally valid normal concerns.

Let’s meet in the middle. ‘Average right winger’

The end result of all those Tory attacks on “lefty lawyers” but as always they’ll not bear any responsibility.

Waiting for the bot commenters to downplay it

Or gather there energy for another anti migrant or anti Muslim article they can sink their teeth into dog whistle about

Why does the headline say plotted? He did carry out the attack, but was too weak to do any harm.

    11. Maybe the constant spamming of Daily Mail and Telegraph posts about the big bad immigrants designed to stoke hatred is finally paying off for _someone_.

Clearly _somebody_ wants a charged voter base, but the base themselves don’t think of that. They think about taking action to “take their country back”.

I am furious that after the race riots that swept over our country _not even a year ago_, our police and government were more interested in going after _Facebook commenters_ than investigating the people responsible for inciting this disgusting behaviour.

Go after the Steve Bannon’s of the world. This will not stop happening unless they are held accountable for all the soft power they are bringing to bear against the west.

    12. My dad is an immigration lawyer and he and his staff have been saying for a while now that the rhetoric of the previous government (“lefty lawyers”) was gonna lead to someone getting hurt.

    13. In a sense people like him are victims in themselves. The rise and rhetoric of right wing populism is bound to infect the mentally ill and cause them to do crazy violent acts

    14. Far right hate-rati v quiet in this comment section apart from denying statistics and thinking this is a false flag operation lol

    15. I like how the Standard seems to omit that this guy was not found guilty as he was so mentally unwell that he could not stand trial. This was all the result of a finding of fact.

I wonder if the media will give the same outrage at a far-right terrorist going after immigrants.

    17. I would like to see representatives of the white community taking responsibility for this and telling us what they will do to ensure people like this man integrate properly into British society.

    18. Previous_Soil_5144 on

Stop blaming immigrants for the issues you caused by electing self serving liars and con men who ruined your country.

    19. Captain-Starshield on

Too many foreign terrorists. We need some home-grown, British geezer terrorists to balance it out.
