In 1996 California became the first state to legalize medical marijuana. Now, in 2024, Nebraska has become the 39th state to do so, representing nearly 80% of the entire country. It’s clear that cannabis has a huge part of the future of medicine, and it’s well past time that society adapts to this by making federal change occur.
Numerous studies have shown that cannabis has benefit for a wide variety of ailments. Everything from cancer to anxiety to depression. We live in a society where nearly 80% of Americans have access to this medicine, whereas 20% will still be prosecuted and potentially put behind bars if they decide to access cannabis no matter what their medical need is and no matter what their physician may think is the best approach. Clearly the future is the system where marijuana is legal especially for medical purposes and is widely available to those who needed.

So “medical” being legal, does that mean people are free to buy “medical” grade there now at their pleasure, or you need to have a prescription?
