He may also need a speed limiter and tachograph for it. As the “car” comes to a little under 3,500KG empty but with even just 4 “standard” adults in it, without luggage it goes over 3.5 tons. He’s also going to need an LGV licence.

I didn’t know there was a minimum required intelligence level to be able to drive but it’s good to know they’re enforcing it.

Without clicking I’m going to guess that it doesn’t comply with UK/EU regulations.

I saw one of these driving around south London a few weeks ago. Looked ridiculously impractical.

Who does a Cybertruck impress? It seems everyone that likes them only likes them because they own one.

Of course he’s a youtuber, it’s a win for him either way whether he’s able to able to register this piece of rubbish or not with the media coverage he’s getting

He’s been driving it on the road, there’s a video with Shmee where they’re driving it on the road. This is either clickbate or just out of date.
He explains in the video it’s the only one ‘driving’ in the UK
In most countries, vehicle safety regulations only apply to public roads and streets. In most of Europe, for example, e-scooters that are far too fast to be legal on public roads can, and occasionally are, driven on private property.
A man with the money to fly a cyber truck to the UK must have the money to buy a patch of land with some sort of road on it. He may even be able to make money from showing it off and selling test drives in it.

Honestly, this isn’t a jab at this guy (he can do what he likes, I don’t care) it’s just nice to have an article somewhat confirm what I already suspected, that these vehicles are not considered road-safe in the UK/EU.
Prior to reading this I’d only seen that Tesla “aren’t currently shipping to those countries” but I’d not looked much further into it. I guess they’ll probably never sell them directly here without serious modification, as the article states, those sharp edges are pretty nasty for pedestrians, that much is apparent just looking at it quite honestly. How the hell it is even sold in the US to begin with is a bit boggling tbh.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen in my life a ‘car’ more aesthetically horrible than this.

It may well be possible to get the vehicle through IVA by disabling power-closing an attaching rubber to the sharp edges. However it’s well known in the kit car community that IVA is a one time thing and compliance parts can be removed and additional parts added afterwards.
However, expect construction and use regulations if the police don’t like it and for insurance to hate it. I guess if you have a million pounds lying around you can escrow you’re fine.

He will drive it on the road anyway. He will try fined and points on his licence. Then his licence will get taken away and he will still drive. Any sight of this car driving on the road, should be towed away and confiscated without question. The car should be destroyed or at least “put in a museum”.

This car was on r/cartalkuk the other day being driven. It was also on a Ashville video where the police pulled it over just to check the insurance before being driven…
This car is being driven legally… waste of an article

That’s the point of so many of these things, right back to the old top gear formula, cars are designed to breakdown, encounter impassable terrain, regulations, etc…
“I bought a cyber truck, its comfy but a bit of a pain to find a parking spot” isn’t going to get millions of views. A full 6 month series of modifications, legal battles and press attention will.
